7 Must-Do's to Prepare Your Site for Your Media Blitz
In an effort to get more visitors or sell more products and services, many businesses turn to the radio or television to give their site’s exposure a boost. But you can’t just go buy some media advertising and leave it at that. Media should be planned for and incorporated into your e-marketing plan so that you can make the most of your advertising dollars.
Before you launch your media campaign, be sure to include your webmaster/webhost in your plans. Here are several strategies to ensure that your website supports and enhances your media spotlight:
- Make a landing page specifically for the viewers/listeners you are speaking to. You have a great opportunity here to tailor what your users see directly to the group you’re trying to reach, so don’t just serve them up the same pages everyone else sees.
- Include a way to capture their email information. Your users are interested already – give them the opportunity to reach out and ask for more!
- Have a follow-up email ready to go a few days after the air date to keep those leads warm.
- Give viewers/listeners a promotional code to enter on your shopping cart, and make sure your cart has been tested with the code so deals and discounts are calculating correctly.
- Make sure you have a way to quantify or track your promotional code. You might even try multiple codes and see what types of discounts appeal most to your audience.
- Increase your bandwidth allowance with your host so your site doesn’t crash under a heavy load of traffic.
- Install analytics on your landing page to review later and help you gauge how effective media advertising was for you.
The internet is a powerful tool by itself, and when paired with other marketing methods your site becomes a virtual marketing machine, helping you sort, report and convert leads to sales. So give your webmaster a call before you promote your website to ensure you’re doing everything you need to make your media campaign a success.

Outdated Browsers Put You at Risk: Update Your Browser Today
A group of researchers have stated that 637 million web users are surfing with outdated internet browsers and are, therefore, at greater risk of web-based attacks.
Many people don’t give much thought to their web browser. They just go online and play around and live in the internet that is presented to them, as flawed as it may be. But browsers change with time! They are upgraded and improved, and each new version will provide you with less errors, more security and better functionality. By using an outdated web browser you’re missing out on the very best that the internet has to offer and at the same time, making yourself vulnerable to internet threats like phishing scams, viruses, and trojans.
Here are some great reasons to upgrade your browser today:
- Security and Anti-Phishing Measures: Improvements are almost always being made to make your internet surfing more secure. By not upgrading, you could be fighting problems that the rest of the world already solved!
- Faster: New browsers can actually work faster! Everybody wants faster, right?!
- Less Errors: All browsers have bugs, and with each version, the bugs are systematically annihilated. Get in on the fun.
- Page Formatting: As browsers grow up and learn to play nicely with each other, users benefit! With some of the new formatting updates, pages display as they were meant to display. This makes everything prettier and easier to use.
- More Functionality: If you’ve got Firefox, you probably already upgraded, since studies show that Firefox users are early adopters of new technology. So we’ll just focus on some of the new functions available in IE7, which include:
- Page Zoom: Increase the size of text and graphics on a web page, or increase and decrease the print size of pages. This is fun to use!
- Tabbed Browsing: Have multiple browser windows in one. This has been in use with Firefox for a while, and kudos to Microsoft for copying it!
- Multiple Home Pages: Have multiple tabs open when you start your browser. Perfect for the multi-taskers among us.
- RSS: Long supported on Firefox, RSS support is new to Internet Explorer 7
- “Shrink to fit” printing option: This shrinks the page so that when you print it, the whole page comes out instead of cutting off the right side. Makes reading those printouts soooo much easier!
- And much more: Suffice it to say, upgrading your browser will improve your experience and make the web even more fun for you to use. Go do it now!
